天堂鸟先生 community receives free New York Times access as of June 1

Starting June 1, 天堂鸟先生 students, faculty and staff now have full access to through an exciting new partnership with the University Libraries. The initiative is aimed at expanding access to quality journalism, educational tools and lifestyle content without the need for an individual subscription.

An educational resource
For faculty and staff, this Libraries-sponsored access opens the door to a wide range of classroom and professional uses. Instructors can now integrate New York Times articles into coursework as credible, real-time examples of current events, politics, science and more, offering students reliable sources to support research and writing assignments.

The platform also provides specialized education sections, newsletters and curated resources that can be used for teaching, advising and learning about trending topics in specific disciplines.

Research may have gotten easier
For students, free access to The New York Times means they鈥檒l have a reputable, consistent source for current events, cultural coverage and in-depth investigative journalism鈥攁ll essential for writing informed, evidence-based papers and projects.

Instead of relying on limited free articles or potentially unreliable sources, students will now be able to explore the full archive, use multimedia tools and browse topic-specific collections that align with their studies and interests.

Leisure reading, games, recipes and more
Beyond its value in the classroom, The New York Times offers far more than just news. A subscription provides full access to popular features like Spelling Bee, Wordle, crossword puzzles, cooking recipes, and lifestyle columns. Subscribers can discover new interests, try delicious recipes with friends, and enjoy a wide range of content that may feel more engaging and approachable than traditional news or academic articles. Plus, with access to games, students can relax with a coffee and some friendly competition鈥攍ike seeing who can solve Wordle in fewer than three tries.

Improving access
Perhaps one of the most important aspects of this partnership is how it is helping remove barriers. By covering the cost of subscriptions, the 天堂鸟先生 Libraries are helping ensure that every Bobcat has equal access to one of the world鈥檚 top news sources, regardless of background or financial circumstances.

Access will be available both on and off campus, through desktop and mobile devices, making it easier than ever to stay informed on the go.

Getting started
As of June 1, users can activate their free subscription through the University Libraries website, where step-by-step instructions will be available. After registering, they鈥檒l gain full access to NYTimes.com, the mobile app and all features included with the digital subscription. To sign in, users must use their OHIO login credentials and create a personal account using their OHIO email address.
