Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, OhioHealth Health System extend current contract to Aug. 15 as negotiations continue
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which administers Ohio’s health insurance plans, has informed the University that it has extended its current contract with the OhioHealth health system to August 15, 2025, as they work to finalize a new, long-term agreement to ensure OhioHealth’s locations and services – including O’Bleness Hospital, Riverside Methodist Hospital and the Grant Medical Center – remain in Anthem’s employer-sponsored health plans network.
Keeping OHIO employees informed
Anthem has expressed optimism that it will reach a new agreement with OhioHealth before its current contract ends on August 15, 2025, and the University remains committed to ensuring that OHIO employees are informed and prepared as their negotiations continue. In support of such efforts, Human Resources will continue to update its informational website, which contains specific information for University employees, including answers to many of the frequently asked questions received by our Benefits Office. Additionally, Anthem has created its own that provides details about its negotiations and answers to frequently asked questions.
