OHIO's CIBED leadership explores and secures expanded partnership opportunities in Botswana

Dr. Andrew Pueschel, CIBED executive director, along with Stephanie Sharp, CIBED director of operations and student development, and Judd Walker, assistant director of consulting programs, traveled to Botswana in May to explore opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in short-term business internships through a deepened academic and professional partnership. The initiative supports CIBED鈥檚 mission to cultivate global business competencies and practical experience for 天堂鸟先生 students.

During the visit, the team was warmly welcomed and guided by retired OHIO faculty member and Botswana resident Ms. Beatrice Selotlogeng and Mr. Thuso Mphela, senior lecturer at the Their efforts facilitated a series of high-level engagements, including meetings with the University of Botswana鈥檚 Vice Chancellor and other institutional leaders. These discussions centered on potential academic collaborations, internship structures and mutual goals for cross-cultural exchange.

The visit to Botswana also included a memorable cultural experience at a Baharutshe Village, offering a rich introduction to Botswana鈥檚 traditional heritage and community values. The journey culminated in a final evening of dinner and dialogue focused on future initiatives. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Former Botswana Ambassador to America and current Chancelor of the University of Botswana, H.E. Tebelelo Seretse; Kenya Ambassador to Botswana H.E. Sabdiyo Dido Bashuna; OHIO alumna Dr. Lorraine Koobokile; and Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Botswana, Dr. Branko I. Cavri膰, reflecting the broad support for international academic partnerships.

In August, leaders from CIBED and the University of Botswana formalized their partnership and launched the Southern Africa Global Consulting Program, expanding the South Africa GCP to include Botswana. The engagement also prompted meaningful dialogue around additional program opportunities, such as the Ohio International Consulting Program鈥檚 Visiting International Partners (VIP).
