Cybersecurity Coffee Chats

Join us as we celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2025 with a seminar series on information security topics that impact our University community. Each Coffee Chat will consist of a 30-40 minute presentation focused on an information security topic, followed by opportunities to chat with the Information Security Office staff. Light refreshments will be served, and sessions are open to all faculty, staff, and students.

September 24th: Data Storage & Retention​

Join us as we provide an overview of data storage best practices at ÌìÌÃÄñÏÈÉú. Learn the acceptable locations based on data type. Learn about the different sensitive data types and online resources that can assist you in your decision making. We will also discuss best practice guidance for data retention.

October 1st: Securing University Work​

Join us as we explore best practices in securing your University work. Topics will cover end-user device security, security while traveling, and using University tools such as OneDrive to effectively collaborate while securing your data.

October 8th: IT Vendor Review Process​

Join us for an overview of the IT Vendor Review Process. Understand how the process works, what is evaluated from a security, accessibility, and privacy perspective, and how you can best prepare for the process to ensure your procurement is effective and efficient.

October 22nd: Security Scorecard Assessment​

Join us as we go through our new risk assessment process Security Scorecard. The purpose of the Security Scorecard is to relay the information security posture of ÌìÌÃÄñÏÈÉú business units and colleges to their respective leadership. At this coffee chat session, we will provide an overview of the security scorecard assessment process, the evaluation criteria, and how best to prepare for when your unit does the assessment.  

October 29th: Dive into Phishing​

Join us as we take a deeper dive into social engineering by recognizing phishing and learning how you can protect yourself against these types of attacks.
