Purpose

The Rooted in Wellness: Holistic Approaches to Prevention in Southern Ohio conference will bring together local and state experts, community leaders, and advocates passionate about empowering the next generation. 

The conference will focus on exploring a broad range of holistic approaches to prevention, with a particular emphasis on the resilience of youth who may face higher risks — such as LGBTQ youth, those who have experienced abuse or neglect, and other at-risk groups. Together, we’ll share evidence-based practices, community-driven solutions, and creative ideas that support youth in navigating and overcoming challenges.

Who Can Attend

Social workers, counselors, teachers, prevention specialists, substance abuse counselors, law enforcement, youth-serving professionals, community members, and anybody interested in creating a safe and healthy community for our youth.

Free Continuing Education Credits will be provided for social workers, prevention specialists, chemical dependency counselors, and teachers.

Keynote Speaker

Lake Miller, OCPC, ICPS

Lake Miller is the Director of Education at The National Conference for Community and Justice of Greater Dayton (NCCJ). Since 2018, he has overseen NCCJ's youth programs, including Anytown Youth Leadership Institute, Police and Youth Together, and school-based programs. 

Lake believes in the power of conversation and creating safe spaces for individuals to engage in meaningful conversations. Lake is an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant (OCPC) and is a certified QPR suicide prevention instructor.
