Sick Leave
There is no limit as to the amount of sick leave which may be accumulated. The procedures regarding usage, notification, verification of sick leave, conversion and payment of unused sick leave upon retirement or death are found in policy #40.029 for Administrators and Faculty. Bargaining unit employees should refer to their collective bargaining agreement for further details.
Administrators and Faculty
Sick leave is earned at the rate of 1.25 days per month. This time is pro-rated for part-time staff.
Bargaining Unit (AFSCME 1699 & 3200 and FOP)
Sick leave is earned at the rate of 4.6 hours for each 80 hours worked.
Personal time
Personal leave days provide time which could be utilized to conduct personal business or deal with family matters that may need to be carried out during regular working hours. Administrative staff should refer to policy #40.027 and bargaining unit employees should refer to their collective bargaining agreement for further details.
Administrators
After 15 days of sick time is accumulated, three days per year are converted to personal time on July 1st.
Bargaining Unit (AFSCME 1699 & 3200 and FOP)
After 120 hours (150 hours for those assigned to ten hour shifts) of sick time is accumulated, three days per year are converted to personal time following the last bi-weekly pay period in the fiscal year.
