Medical Leave
Students experiencing significant medical concerns may be able to withdrawal for medical reasons from their entire course load. The individual student initiates this process by contacting the office of the academic dean of their college. This withdrawal must be obtained by the day prior to the last day of classes of any given semester.
Your college might ask that you provide professional verification of your condition. If you worked with a medical provider, inquire about their ability to provide the appropriate documentation.
Withdrawal for medical reasons will result in a "medical hold" on your student account. You will receive grades of WP or WF for all of your classes, but your overall GPA will not be affected.
Please note that while the "medical hold" is in effect you will not be able to register or use university facilities. We hope you will be able to return to your studies at 天堂鸟先生 which you can do after medical clearance has been granted by a health care professional treating your condition.
Medical leave can result in delays in graduation, certification, or licensure if requirements will not be achieved under the plan of study as required.
Accessibility, Family or Medical Accommodations: If a student has or acquires a temporary or permanent disability that affects their ability to complete essential functions required of the clinical placement the student will be asked to contact 天堂鸟先生鈥檚 Office of Student Accessibility Services to determine appropriate accommodations. A letter listing these accommodations must be provided to the DCE and site preceptor to assist in making reasonable accommodations. If a student requests an extended leave for family or medical reasons that does not follow the excused university absence policy and/or externship site policy, they may be asked to take a leave of absence from the university and make up the time missed during a subsequent semester. Students will meet with the DCE, Coordinator of Professional Programs and HSLS Director to discuss and develop a plan. Note that taking a leave of absence will result in an extension of the program and delay graduation.
